My Present
I’m Mark Sanfilippo, Northrop & Johnson’s Head of Technology & Product. I would consider myself to be an innovative technologist with numerous years of operations and business management experience in designing, developing, and implementing both custom-built and purchased information technology systems and solutions. As an influential leader, I am passionate about providing meaningful change and guiding cross-functional teams to deliver the challenge of software development projects and cutting-edge application buildouts.
My Past
I am Jamaican born of Italian/Lebanese descent. I was educated in the United States and raised in a blended mix of Sicilian/Lebanese culture with Jamaican spices sprinkled throughout. My family was part of an early exodus to escape fears of possible dictatorship with a change in government. So, we moved to Florida to assist my father’s mother and her sister after leaving New Jersey to retire.
In the initial years of my higher education journey, I studied Psychology and later began to focus on computer sciences prior to the dot-com boom. Throughout my career, I have engineered IT organizations and key applications to strengthen quality of service, timely delivery, and staff capabilities while improving reliability.
My Future
My goal is to use my diverse technology expertise to optimize and improve processes throughout the organization. In addition, my objective is to bring a methodical approach to technology and work to effectively align the “needs” with the “wants” of the business while maintaining a line of sight on the value each project can bring to the company.
My Motto
Do not lead by fear, but by example. Be the example that inspires others to better themselves.
My Outside-office Life
I am an avid soccer player and continue to play, believing I can keep up with the younger players in this sport. My wife, Laurie, and I have three children, Samantha, Luciano, and Brooke, who are now starting to “adult” in their own of life. I thrive on laughter, insight and am always in search of ways to better myself.
