Elevating Hope: Northrop & Johnson's Decade of Dedication to Kids in Distress

Unfortunately, some children are born into circumstances that challenge their prospects, facing the harsh realities of neglect and abuse. This is where Kids In Distress (KID) steps forward as a beacon of hope.
Kids In Distress is more than an organization; it’s a lifeline for children in distress. Since its inception in 1979, KID has tirelessly dedicated itself to preventing child abuse, preserving families and providing treatment to children who have suffered the unthinkable. It began as a shelter for abused and neglected children, and today, it boasts a five-acre campus in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and a four-acre facility in Southwest Ranches, FL, featuring two family foster group homes. KID’s multifaceted services include individual, family, and group therapy and counseling, preschool, aftercare, and summer camp programs, the recruitment, training, and support of foster/adoptive homes, and various prevention, reunification, family preservation and maternal and child health services.
The heart of KID’s mission is to preserve families, prevent child abuse, and provide hope for children who’ve endured the unimaginable. KID has grown from a shelter into a foster care agency and a family-strengthening agency, preventing children from entering the system and, instead, nurturing them to thrive. KID’s relentless dedication to children in distress is a testament to the power of compassion and the strength of the community.
Northrop & Johnson: Over A Decade of Dedication
For over ten years, Northrop & Johnson has stood beside KID, supporting its noble mission through the unwavering efforts of Daniel Ziriakus, Kevin Merrigan and Alfredo Lopez. N&J has been an integral part of the annual Elevate event since its inception, consistently demonstrating a deep commitment to the mission of raising funds and closing gaps in funding to support children in need. In the last decade alone, along with Elevate, N&J has helped raise over $3 million for KID. This remarkable feat is a testament to N&J’s commitment to making a difference.
Elevate Lives and Make a Difference
Elevate is not just an event; it’s an opportunity to effect real change. An annual benefit, Elevate is an experience like no other. Held in an airplane hangar, it is an evening complete with a luxurious showcase of private jets, a lineup of exotic automobiles, a silent and live auction, live entertainment, craft cocktails and exciting gastronomic experiences. The goal of Elevate lies in the coming together of leaders in business, philanthropists and people like you to support at-risk children and families served by Kids in Distress and Family Central. Elevate was reimagined in 2019 to accommodate even more guests, reflecting the growth of the organization and its unwavering commitment to the community.
